Frequently Asked Questions
Do eyelash extensions hurt?
No, there should never be any pain with the application of lashes! Each eyelash is applied close to but never touching the lash line.
Will I feel my extension once they are on?
At first you will have to adjust to them, but after a couple days they will feel like your own lashes.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Try to arrive without any eye makeup and do not curl your lashes that day. If you wear contacts, please bring a contact case as your contacts will need to be taken out before the application process can begin. I also recommend showering/washing your hair prior to your appointment because you will not be able to get your lashes wet or near steam for 24 hours!
What should I expect during my appointment?
You will be comfortably laying down with your eyes closed while I apply extensions one at a time to your own natural lashes. Most clients find it so relaxing and comfortable that they fall asleep! Feel free to bring your earphones and music/meditation if you want to zone out!
Why did some lashes fall off so quickly?
During your appointment, I cannot tell which lashes are in the beginning or end of their cycle. Just like the hair on our head, lashes have hair cycles and unfortunately, shedding is a big part of it.
How do I make my lashes last?
Avoid wearing makeup as much as possible – dirt and grime can disintegrate the glue and many eyeliners are oil-based. This isn’t to say avoid it, but keeping the lashes free of oil and dirt will definitely add to their longevity. I highly recommend using powder eyeshadows and not creams. Pencil eyeliners will drag along the lash line and tug your extensions. Do not use waterproof makeup. Avoid using eye creams and moisturizers in the eye area. Avoid products that contain glycerin.
Do lashes make my own lashes weak?
The application of lash extensions will not cause hair loss, nor will it cause eyelashes to fall out. When applied correctly by me and proper aftercare by you, your lashes should stay perfectly healthy! Of course, our lashes will have multiple dramatic shedding cycles and appear to be rapidly declining in health, but this is normal, as new lashes are growing in! I recommend using a lash serum during your run with extensions to keep your natural lashes nice and strong. It will help your new growth grow quickly resulting in fuller fills! I have GrandeLash & Babe Lash for sale in the salon if you are interested.
But they look sad when I have them removed!
Once the extensions are removed, your own eyes may appear smaller, your natural lashes, shorter and sparser because you’ve been accustomed to a full set of longer, thicker lashes!
How are they removed?
Your eyelash stylist will remove them using a gentle lash adhesive remover to gently release them from your existing lashes without any damage to your own, natural lashes.
