Visia Skin ANALYSIS

WHAT IS VISIA SKIN ANALYSIS?

VISIA is an in-depth analysis of your individual facial characteristics. It lets you see the benefits of skin care programs planned for your specific complexion.

HOW DOES THE VISIA SKIN ANALYSIS WORK?

The VISIA will scan your skin, looking at its strengths and weaknesses. VISIA scans measure your skin pigmentation, pore size, and porphyrins (evidence of bacteria lodged in pores). It also scans UV spots, sun damage, texture, and wrinkles. With this assessment of your skin, we can compare your skin condition within your peer group. This helps us develop a more targeted treatment program for your specific needs, while also tracking your progress and treatment outcomes over time.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY APPOINTMENT?

At Hull Aesthetics, we offer VISIA skin analysis as a complimentary addition to our gallery of treatments. Our Product Specialist, Audrey, will sit you in front of the VISIA system and the process of scanning your face will begin.

VISIA captures left, right, and frontal facial views, giving us a clear picture of your skin. In minutes, you will be able to view your scans on the computer screen. Your first analysis will become the baseline for your treatment progress. You will be able to view your own before and after pictures and see for yourself how your skin treatment plan is helping you.

SPOTS

Typically brown or red skin marks, distinguishable by the distinct color and contrast from the background skin tone. Spots vary in size and shape, and are normally visible to the naked eye.

WRINKLES

Furrows, folds or creases in the skin that can increase as a result of sun exposure and are associated with a decrease in skin elasticity.

PORES

Circular surface openings of sweat gland ducts. Due to shadowing, enlarged pores appear darker than the surrounding skin tone and are identified by the darker color and circular shape.

TEXTURE

Raised and depressed areas that indicate variations on the skin surface affecting skin smoothness.

UV SPOTS

The absorption of UV light by epidermal melanin just below the skin surface results in the display and detection of UV spots that can result from sun damage.

BROWN SPOTS

Pigmentation and discoloration on and beneath the surface of the skin.

RED AREAS

Concentrated darker red areas, which may be related to a variety of conditions such as inflammation or spider veins.

PORPHYRINS

Bacterial excretions that can become lodged in pores.

Objective Scores:

A percentile score compares that factor on the skin to the general population at your age. In the first four factors measured (Wrinkles, Spots, Pores, Texture), it is desirable to have your skin score at a higher number: The higher, the better! For example, a Wrinkle score at the 75th percentile means the severity of your wrinkles is better than 75% of people your age.

With both Porphyrins and UV Spots indicate better skin health when a lower score is obtained: The lower, the better!

VISIA imaging and analysis helps us develop more targeted treatment programs AND product recommendations to achieve your skin goals and better track treatment outcomes and progress, making it possible to design rejuvenation and skin care regimens for your specific complexion.

These skin irregularities can be brown or red lesions like freckles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation or vascular lesions. VISIA pinpoints their location, size and color so we can determine the type and recommend the right treatment to address them.

We offer a variety of skincare solutions dedicated to treating wrinkles. While you can see most of the wrinkles on your skin, you can always tell the depth of those lines and wrinkles. Fine lines show up as light green while deep creases appear dark green, and the lines on your unique face may run the gamut in between.

Pores are the openings for oil ducts and can easily become clogged with dirt and an overproduction of oil, leading to breakouts. When pores are enlarged, it can indicate they’re clogged or are more susceptible to becoming clogged. This system distinguishes between spots and pores, seeing where clusters may indicate oily, breakout-prone areas.

You may not always feel the small irregularities in skin texture that indicate your skin needs special treatment, so this is actually one of the more sophisticated reports of this system. The device evaluates the overall texture of your skin and provides a detailed report so we know where to recommend the right kind of exfoliation.

Raised areas, like dead skin cells and blemishes, are indicated on the report in yellow. The indentations caused by open pores and fine lines are indicated in blue. The differentiation allows us to recommend the right treatment for the right area of texture irregularity.

This show the amount of ultraviolet (UV) sun damage. Sun damage is the leading contributors to roughened skin texture and uneven tone, not to mention skin cancer. This indicator shows the cumulative damage of the sun exposure from one’s life-time UV exposure thus far. The lower your number, the less roughened, damaged skin your skin is, and the less risk you have for skin destructive processes such as skin cancer. — PRO TIP! Look at your eyelids & lips! Are you using proper protection on those areas? REAPPLY every 2 hours!

(PRO TIP: We love the COLORESCIENCE Brush-on SPF for reapplying!)

We classify brown spots as including freckles, moles and age spots. These spots are caused by an increase in melanin production. Melanin is produced by special cells and is what gives our skin, hair and eyes their pigment. The more melanin there is, the darker the pigment. Spots are causing by melanin clumping together. By pinpointing how large these spots are and their location, we can recommend pinpointed treatment to break these cells apart and reduce the visibility of spots.

These areas can be caused by broken capillaries, acne or rosacea, and the Visia analysis shows us exactly where these spots are located. This kind of accuracy makes treating the exact location of these imperfections easier.

The lower your measured number indicates less bacterial activity, thus less pimples or inflammatory lesions. These bacterial excretions block pores and can lead to breakouts. When areas where porphyrins are detected early, we can accurately recommend spot treatments to stop breakouts before they start. This report also helps us recommend the right ongoing skincare routine for your skin type.
